There Will Be Blood

I was lucky enough last night to see a screening of Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, There Will Be Blood. The film is set to release in theaters right after Christmas. Seeing the film was inspiring enough, but we also got to catch a Q&A after the film with PT Anderson, Daniel Day-Louis and Kevin J. O’Conner. PT Anderson made an amazing film on all fronts and set the stage to show acting in it’s true form with an really captivating performance by Daniel Day-Louis as Daniel Plainview. Anderson described the film as a “steak & vodka” film, totally striped down to the raw essentials and it worked perfectly. I also recommend checking out the score by Johnny Greenwood, it definitely reminded me of the amazing score Wendy Carlos did for The Shining. With the release of this film and The Cohen Bros’ No Country, it’s been a really great year for films so far.
